Gratitude for a year of training

The last quarter of the year finds the BA’s Christian Science Nurses Training School full of activity in support of those individuals representing themselves as Christian Science nurses.

This fall, as with the rest of the year, we are so grateful to be working side-by-side in mentoring Christian Science nurses enrolled in our training program who are actively ministering on our Christian Science nursing floor in support of healing. Their selfless commitment to this holy work is seen in their expression of humility, tenderness, deep joy, Christlike compassion and flexibility.

CSNA IV: Supervisory Christian Science Nursing Arts met at the BA from late August to late September with Christian Science nurses attending from Arden Wood, the BA, Peace Haven, and Tenacre. A strong focus in this class is given to the spiritual qualities, ethics, judgment, and the art of Christian Science nursing so essential to a sound demonstration of oversight in this spiritual ministry. Following five weeks in the classroom at the BA, participants receive 7-10 months of mentored instruction at their own facility.

CSNA II: Basic Christian Science Nursing Arts convened for the classroom portion of the course in mid-October and will extend into mid-November. Individuals from Sunland Home returned to the BA for this class to continue to deepen and broaden their understanding of and work with spiritual qualities, sound judgment, and the art of ministering to the patient and his needs. Participants in this class are also taught practical skills that support ministering to the individual patient and the needs of cleanliness, comfort, communication, rest, activity, nourishment, and surroundings. Five weeks in the classroom at the BA are followed by 7-12 months of mentored instruction at the participants’ own facility.

To finish out the year, CSNA VI: Mentoring in the Art of Christian Science Nursing will be held during the first week of December. This one-week class is offered for Journal-listed Christian Science nurses and provides the opportunity to work together with ethics and Christian Science nursing arts that support those whose role includes mentoring Christian Science nurses in a growing and developing practice. This class also supports the continuing education requirement for Journal-listed Christian Science nurses called for by The Mother Church.

How grateful we are for a year of fruitage and progress at the BA’s Christian Science Nurses Training School!

I am filled with joy and gratitude as I reflect on finishing the classroom portion of CSNA II. The journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, and I feel so fortunate to have learned from such dedicated and ardent instructors. Their unwavering support and thoughtful guidance created an environment that was not only educational but also deeply nurturing. Each lesson was foundational and was infused with a sense of purpose, making every moment memorable. Looking ahead to the next chapter of mentored instruction, I am brimming with anticipation. I am eager to deepen my knowledge and skills, knowing that this experience will further prepare me to contribute and support our Cause.
