We're here for you! A closer look at the Outpatient Room

Within the refuge of the BA is our Outpatient Room—a quiet, onsite place where individuals seeking healing can receive the skilled loving support of Christian Science nursing. It is available 24 hours 7 days a week for adults and children relying on Christian Science for healing. 

“The only two requirements for coming to the Outpatient Room are that you are working with a Christian Science practitioner and relying on Christian Science for healing,” says Alison Alioto, Christian Science Nursing Administrator at the BA.

To reach the Outpatient Room, call the BA’s main number: (617) 734-5600. You’ll speak with a person and be put right through to the Christian Science nurse on duty. 

“It’s helpful if people can call us ahead,” says Alison. “Even if they just say, ‘I have this need, I’m on my way’ we’ll tell you to come right over and we’ll meet you at the door.” 

The Outpatient Room is located on the first floor of the Christian Science Nursing Building where Christian Science nurses provide practical loving care, for instance with cleansing and bandaging or assisting with the use of a mobility aid such as crutches, a walker or wheelchair. Visitors to the Outpatient Room also have the opportunity to just speak with a Christian Science nurse about care ideas. 

“When discussing care ideas, part of that conversation always, always includes the expectancy of healing,” says Alison. “Our goal is to immediately meet the need in a skilled and loving way, always with the expectancy of and support for full and complete healing.”

“I’ve had the privilege of witnessing some really wonderful healings in my work in the Outpatient Room,” continues Alison. “We’re right here just a few miles down the road from The Mother Church. Christian Science nursing is a vital part of Church and a resource readily available to the community.”
